ARAFMI on the Central Coast

Welcomes you to our free 2009

Mental health carers programs and groups.

Support groups are designed for carers over 16 to meet to share expertise and provide emotional support with each other. Held in Gosford and Wyong Shires.

 

·         Woy Woy support group.  930-1130. Held on the 2nd Monday of each month at CWA Hall ,Woy Woy.

 

·         Erina support group 10-12. Held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at Erina Trust Hall, Karalta Road, Erina.

 

·         Gosford Saturday support group 10-12. Held on the 4th Saturday of each  month at the ARAFMI office, Gateway Centre, Gosford.

 

·         Wyong Hospital day support group 11.30- 1.30 Held on the 4th Friday of each month in Meeting room 1, Wyong Mental Health unit, Wyong Hospital.

 

 ·         Wyong Hospital evening support group 3rd Thursday of each month in Meeting room 1 Wyong Mental Health unit, Wyong Hospital Time: 6-8 pm


 

 

 

Services And Workshops:

FDS Family drug support evening meeting Kincumber ARAFMI carers cottage 6/ 20-22 Kincumber street Kincumber. First and third Tuesday of each month 7- 9pm.  Support and information for families whose loved one have drug related issues.

 

Interest groups are designed for carers meet to enjoy some time out from their caring role with a range of activities, speakers and fun. Kincumber carers interest support group 10.30-12 Held on the 1st Tuesday of each month at the Carers cottage unit 6 / 20-22 Kincumber St. Kincumber.

 

Mental Health first aid – Adult: 12 hour program that covers the common disorders in adulthood, and how to respond to them in the community. The program can be delivered over two days, or four x 3 hour sessions. Held in Gosford and Wyong Shires.

 

Mental Health first aid – Youth: 15 hour program that covers the common disorders in children and young people, and how to respond to them in the community. The program can be delivered over two long days or 5 x 3 hour sessions. Held in Gosford and Wyong Shires.

 

ARAFMI Carers coping skills: 12 hour program that covers a wide range of issues to assist in the caring role. This can be delivered over two full days, 4x half days, or in 8 x two hour individual modules. Held in Gosford and Wyong Shires.

 

Relaxation training is a fun 6 hour, one day program to introduce carers to relaxation techniques. Held in Gosford and Wyong Shires.

 

Yakkalla: Monday- Friday. Social and recreational program for consumers. 6 Community Road, Bateau Bay.

 

Young ARAFMI  “Kids Connecting A weekly group run during each school term for children whose lives are affected by someone with a mental illness. Young carers meet to share expertise, enjoy some time out, and provide emotional support to each other. 

 

Young ARAFMI schools program. A program run weekly within schools, delivered in a concise and interactive way, to young people aged 12-17yrs, promoting mental health well-being and resilience, through group exercises and information sharing.
