Information and Support Line

The ARAFMI Information and Support Line has been a long standing service that provides information and referral options to carers trying to navigate through the mental health system.

 

 ARAFMI can help you to gain understanding of mental illness and gain the practical skills for coping in the carer role.

 

The ARAFMI Information and Support Line:

  • operates 9am to 5pm - Monday to Friday
  • takes calls form all over NSW
  • provides information and contact details for services available to support carers - family and friends of someone with a mental illness
    This can include information about services available to your loved one.
  • provides information about mental illnesses, accessing the mental health system, coping skills, etc
  • provides support through understanding the difficulties of your situation

ARAFMI NSW also has branch offices in several areas, which can be contacted directly.

 

All of the Branches offer:

  • individual support and advocacy if needed
  • information programs about dealing with mental illness, and carer coping skills
  • programs for children affected by mental illness in the family
  • access to peer support groups for carers
  • and other family and carer services

Part of the new Family and Carer Mental Health Program Network, which is collaborates with three other organisations in different areas of the state – Carers Assist, Carers NSW and Uniting Care Metal Health.
