Mental Health Carers ARAFMI NSW 35th Anniversary Conference

"National Challenges - Local Solutions"

 

To celebrate 35 years of providing support to families and friends of a people with a mental illness ARAFMI NSW is holding a national conference for carers, mental health professionals, service providers and anyone in the community who is interested in mental health.

 

It will be a 'grass roots' event in which carers as well as practitioners who work 'at the coalface' of mental health care will discuss challenges and successful initiatives currently used. The focus will be on sharing ideas across States from a mental health carer's perspective. Sessions will include strategies for managing the impact of a loved one's illness on family relationships, and issues that are unique to regional and remote areas.

 

The two-day Conference will include national identities, local champions, community leaders and service providers along with families and carers of people with a mental illness to share their experiences, investigate new options and provide up-to-date information to support the caring role.

 

When: 28th & 29th October, 2010

 

Where: NSW Teachers' Federation Conference Centre, Mary St, Surry Hills, NSW

 

Cost: $250 for two days. Special rates are available for overnight accommodation.
