public vs private system

My son is in the public system for treatment of his bi-polar condition. As he's been around a while, he is now on 3 monthly visits - only 4 times a year! But he's not making any improvement and I don't see how a visit every three months can really help. Does anyone have experience with the private system, or any ideas of how to kick start a better treatment plan?

Hi,

My husband suffers from severe depression and a delusional disorder. My experience is that the actual treatment that is received is basically the same, but the surroundings are better, more conducive to a normal lifestyle and the presence of potentially violent/severely affected patients are not as prevalent, but I guess that this would depend on what kind of facility (public/private) that your son was thinking of entering.

I hope that that helps.

We need to see major changes to worldwide medical insurance. Public systems have lots of limitations and private systems are way too expensive. Keep fighting for your son. That's what will help him the most.
