My mum believes people are getting into her house, and scratching the car in garage or marking the walls like with whitner, even stuffing the vaccume with yellow stuff she says, or  pushing doors off their runners (sliding doors too outside). i am her daughter and beleive there is something seriously wrong with her, but she believes this is all real. i have installed motion camera to maybe get photos of the supposed events happening to her car etc. my only brother will not support me. how do you get help for someone who believes this is real and i am wrong???? please HELP ME

This does sound like a possible case of some kind of paranoid psychosis potentially relating to relating some kind of mental illness.  I think it would be appropriate to contact your local mental health team to discuss the matter and possibly get some kind of assessment of her condition.

I will get one of our staff to contact you to provide you with contact details for local services but otherwise we have a fairly comprehensive database of mental health services available through our Information Line on 9332 0700 or toll free on 1800 655 198 if you want to call us first.

Regarding your brother, such is the stigma associated with mental illness sometime people don't want to hear that such a thing could be happening to a loved one. Although his reaction is not very helpful, unfortunately it is not that uncommon.

Thankyou Kerian, i will ring one of your numbers you supplied me with. i am in newcastle nsw so hope to talk in person to someone locally, i saw there is a newcastle branch to go to also. My mother wont have anyone assess her as she beleives there is nothing wrong so im looking at ways around this to have her seen by someone, as im the only one she trusts i need to do this carefully i tried once and she was annoyed that i may have spoken to her doctor. well its worth a try to at least get some support for myself the cope with this situation. thansk again Kerian.

One of the best thing you should do for now is to seek medical consultation ... It's hard to conclude when you don't have basis... Looking at the positive side... This shows how much you wanted to help your mom, she's lucky to have you.

This sounds like a possible case of a sort of paranoid psychosis may be related to related to some kind of mental illness. I think it would be appropriate to contact the local team of mental health, to discuss and possibly get some kind of assessment of pregnancy.

I am his daughter and believes there is something seriously wrong with her, but she believes that everything is true. I installed the camera motion can obtain images of the alleged events that occur in his car, etc.

Hi Sandwah,

First of all, I am so sorry to hear that your mom is having health issues. It does sound like a possible case of some sort of paranoid psychosis. My grandmother was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and did similar things as you described your mother doing. She wound up seriously hurting herself and is now not able to function and get out of bed without the help of bed rails. I would definitely find some highly skilled physicians to discover what is happening with your mom so that she can receive treatment and a diagnosis.

Best,
Amy
