Governance

ARAFMI NSW’s Organisational Structure

The affairs of the organisation are managed by a voluntary NSW Board of Management elected bi-annually by members of the organisation. The constitution of the organisation, which was reviewed and approved by members at the Annual General Meeting in 2008 states that the majority of Board Members (51%) must be a carer of a person with a mental illness. This ensures that the organisation remains connected with and understanding of the needs of families and carers of people with a mental illness.

The next election of Office Bearers for the NSW Board of Management will take place at the Annual General Meeting of the Association to be held in February 2011.

Local committees support and manage local affairs under the delegated authority of the NSW Board of Management. Local committees meet regularly to support local management in relation to the affairs of the organisation.

Mental Health Carers ARAFMI NSW Incorporated is a member of Mental Health Carers ARAFMI Australia. The national body meets annually and is made up of other ARAFMI bodies from around Australia.
