Mission & Vision
ARAFMI NSW is a community organisation of families’ carers and friends of people living with a mental illness which encourages an active membership from among all of the diverse communities of NSW, which is informed by their experiences and provides support, education and advocacy in order to help them effectively fulfil their caring role.
Our vision is for a community that understands and responds to the impact of mental illness on families and carers and the many people who are living with a mental illness.

Who we are
Mental Health Carers ARAFMI NSW Incorporated is a non government, member based organisation that provides a range of services to families, carers and friends of people with a mental illness across NSW. Local services are delivered from a number of Regional Offices with support groups established across the state.

Our History
ARAFMI was formed in Sydney in 1975 by Margaret Lukes, a social worker with the NSW Association of Mental Health. more history

The affairs of the organisation are managed by a voluntary NSW Board of Management elected bi-annually by members of the organisation. more on governance
